Course Description

BOC is a nationally recognized, competency-based training and certification program that offers facilities personnel the improved job skills and knowledge to transform workplaces to be more comfortable, energy-efficient and environmentally friendly.

8 total Classes, 8am to 4pm *Next Class Starts – May 19, 2026 at our Alpharetta-North Fulton Campus
- Energy Efficient Operation of Building HVAC Systems (A)
- Energy Efficient Operation of Building HVAC Systems (B)
- Facility Electrical Systems
- Measuring and Benchmarking Energy Performance
- Efficient Lighting Fundamentals
- HVAC Controls Fundamentals
- Indoor Environmental Quality
- Common Opportunities for Low-Cost Operational Improvement
Course series consist of classroom training, project assignments to be completed at the participant's facility, and in-class exams administered at the end of each day of training.
Prerequisites
Level I Eligibility Requirements
BOC is for building operators with two or more years experience in building operation and maintenance, who wish to broaden their knowledge of the total building system. Past participants have included building engineers, stationary engineers, maintenance supervisors, maintenance workers, facility coordinators, HVAC technicians, electricians, operations supervisors, operations techs, and others in the facility operation and maintenance field.
Eligibility for certification is based on work experiences and education, AND completion of BOC classes, exams, and on-the-job projects.
It is highly recommended that applicants for Level I certification have one of the following:
- 2+ years of work experience
or - Combination of experience and BOC Fundamentals certificate or technical education
